Strolling along the Dotonbori Canal, you’ll encounter countless restaurants and food stalls offering local specialties like takoyaki (octopus balls) and okonomiyaki (savory pancakes).

Rare Fugu Sashimi Experience

At Yamatoya Honten, you can expect an elegant array of dishes, including fresh Fugu (Pufferfish) sashimi.

Fugu sashimi is difficult to find due to the complex and risky process involved in preparing the dish.

Only licensed and highly trained chefs are permitted to prepare fugu, yo ensure the fish is safely and skillfully prepared.

Day 2: Explore Osaka Further

Morning: Umeda Sky Building

The Umeda Sky Building is an iconic landmark in Osaka, renowned for its striking modern architecture and breathtaking views.

Completed in 1993, the building consists of two towers connected at the top by a floating garden observatory. Visitors can take an elevator to the 39th floor, where they can enjoy the observation deck and outdoor terrace.

Inside, the building features a variety of shops, restaurants, and a picturesque atrium known as the “Sky Walk.” The design incorporates elements of nature, with gardens and water features.

Lunch: Kuromon Ichiba Market

Kuromon Ichiba Market is a bustling food market located in Osaka. It is famous for its wide variety of fresh produce, seafood, and local delicacies.

Often referred to as “Osaka’s kitchen,” the market spans about 580 meters and is lined with numerous stalls and shops offering everything from seasonal fruits and vegetables to grilled seafood, wagyu beef, and traditional snacks like takoyaki and mochi.

Afternoon: Shitennoji Temple and Sumiyoshi Taisha

Shitenno-ji Temple is one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples, founded in 593 AD by Prince Shotoku. Prince Shotoku played a crucial role in promoting Buddhism in Japan.

The temple is renowned for its beautiful architecture, featuring a five-story pagoda that stands as a symbol of the temple and offers a glimpse into ancient Japanese design.

Next, head to Sumiyoshi Taisha, one of Japan’s oldest Shinto shrines. Established in the 3rd century, it predates the introduction of Buddhism to Japan, making it a significant site for traditional Shinto practices.

The shrine is known for its distinctive architectural style, called Sumiyoshi-zukuri, which features straight lines and unique designs, setting it apart from later Buddhist-influenced architecture.
